Frequent software crashes

Postby beaver » 25 Jun 2015, 10:45

Ahoj a dobrý den!

First things first: I REALLY like the app VERY MUCH with ALL these great goodies built in EVERYWHERE! Especially using your own maps, supporting open air format, creating your own up-to-date-traffic patterns of smaller airports in google earth (are corrections by users welcome / how to communicate them?), tweaking it to your own needs and great moving map and HSI-functionality. Great work! Awe inspiring! I purchased the unlocker way before end of trial and even before having tested it in the air since it also makes such a fun game playing around when your stuck on the couch with a bad cold but also because I thought stopping/halting of the programm was due to trial restrictions.

Last but not least: Unfortunately after installing unlocker ("unlocker active" message alright at startup) I found the software crashes rather FREQUENTLY again and again sometimes after just a few minutes or after restart when going in simulator mode playing around with menus and shifting and zooming map. Sure all this might be harder to handle for the soft- and hardware but I run it on a just recently acquired Samsung Galaxy Tab4 7" (SM-T230 / 8GB RAM + 32GB SD / Android 4.4.2 with nearly only the "integrated" google-stuff installed and according to task manager with 4,18GB of 8GB free RAM left when Android runs / running German civil and mil databases and the download-provided Germany-OSM-ZLO-13 map as well as terrain data covering all of Germany). Since it seems my Garmin GPS 95 XL somehow got out of fashion lately I really would like to shift it to the backup-position further away on the panel and put Fly is Fun closer to the centre. But with these software crashes on the tablet the good ol' 95XL would have to stay its ground for a little longer I guess.

Still now I wonder if there is any support or help available tracing THIS kind of problem? Could it be just the simulator mode? If you just let it go flying across the map it doesn't seem to crash too often, but sometimes even just calling up the "Navigate" menu causes it to crash! There is an option to send detailed crash reports via the google-Play-channel obviously but I don't know if this'd be taken care of or if there'd be the right information included (sorry, I'm not a crash-report-geek).

Suggestions and/or assistance of ANY kind would be highly appreciated!
Any help welcome!

Cheers
'beaver' (while without a DHC-2 unfortunately - or luckyly...)

PS: Since I'm not wired/wirelessed/online all the time it might take me some time to check back messages and react.

PPS: My 32GB SD where map etc. data is stored is a Transcend micro SD HCI U1 Class10. Could this be too slow? Maybe it might be worth a try to get a real fast 'professional' photography use SD? Any experience with this anybody?

To give it a shot here's one quick crash report line-excerpt of the freshest crash report.
What happened: I just moved the map with airspace data of Poland around to find a place then software crashed when tapping "+" zoom in button on the map, no simulator running and gps switched off)!

Though I'm not at all familiar with these crash reports to me it seems the following might have something to do with the right line of the report(?):
"06-25 17:54:00.021 I/am_crash( 562):
[3409,0,gps.ils.vor.glasscockpit,8961604,android.database.sqlite.SQLiteDiskIOException,disk I/O error(code 3850),SQLiteConnection.java,-2]"

So caused by the map-implementation somehow? Map used was "Poland-ZL7-12" provided from download menu.

Crashes now occur even at startup or when planning a route on the map. Always the same crash report line.
Meanwhile found this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1661 ... t-provider
I will see to get another SD soon and report back about the result.

Frequent software crashes when working with maps

Postby beaver » 27 Jun 2015, 10:15

Still the same crashes ("android.database.sqlite.SQLiteDiskIOException,disk I/O error(code 3850)") with a SanDisk 8GB MicroSD HC.
So I guess it's not the card but implementation of retriving data from the card into Fly is fun software routine(?).
Need help (not even possible to create a route in one go)!

Noticed that in crash reports the line "[...]power_partial_wake_stat( 564)[...]" typically can be found close to crashing. Some more research lead me to thinking about trying to root device which I didn't do after having read rondum's thread "sdcard" of 21 Jun 2014, 12:19 in "Navigation database" concluding that there'd be no need to root. Maybe still?! Will try soon and report back.

Thanks a lot for caring! If it would be of help I could provide screenshots of the crash report-lines showing one 7"-screen of tasks before the crashes occured. Please also note that I didn't root the tablet yet and since I'm brand new to the android world and don't fully understand the consequences of rooting yet I will put rooting on hold until advised otherwise. (Still it would be interesting to know what kind of hardware is being used for developing and testing and therefore would be the first choice for running the software as stable as possible.)
