More details on VHF format and importing

Postby kabong.steve » 18 Jul 2013, 23:28

Hi,

I'm attempting to get all the VHF details for Australia and to import into Fly is Fun.

I mostly understand the gic XML file format, but there are no details on the VHFType conversion from the display text to the number in the file.
Could you list these?
Also, in Aus we call it CTAF, rather than UNICom or MULTICOM, could we get a code for this?
And a code for FLIGHT INFORMATION AREA (FIA)

Also, what is the IssueType and IssueDate (format)?

Australia seems to be separated into multiple "country" folders (YB, YE, YS etc), but this doesn't always seem to be consistent with the ICAO code.
Is there a reason for this?
Does the folder structure matter and should it match the first two characters of the ICAO? (I did this for the PDF directories and it seems to work)

thanks and much appreciated

Importing VHFs are not possible from external format, but I can implement it.
At this time - you can send a file, and I can add it to the database.

File must contain:
ICAO code, VHF, Type, calling

Exam of line
LKZA;123,60;INF,ZABREH INFO

Type can be for example ACC, TWR... - have look at picture

HI,

Have these been loaded into the database?

I tried downloading Australia again, but was unable to see the updated information.

Also, is there anyway of removing the country and readding, so i can also remove the IFR waypoints?

thanks

Hi

downloaded and found them all there.

One small issue, when searching Nearest list and finding airports, I notice is displays one of the VHF frequencies with the airport entry (and occasionally 2).

For me its usually the UNIcom or CTAF frequency that is wanted, but they seem to default mostly to the ACC freq, which is more the airspace frequency, rather than the airport frequency

any way to change this?

thanks

Hi,
What was in your file is in the database :-)

Displaying first VHFs has this priority: TWR, APP, INFO
and if exists second VHF is ATIS.
This we need in Europe.
I can think about settings priority...

That order makes sense for IFR.

For VFR we're more interested in the CTAF or UNICOMM first and then ACC and others second etc.

So if you added UNICOM as the fourth priority for first VHF and ACC for second VHF then that would work for the majority of the airports here without effecting your priority.

whether a system preference for VFR/IFR etc would help with the priority (and display of IFR waypoints etc on the maps), or airport type or other airport property would help.

thanks
