Shorter way to editing the active route

Postby RogerF » 16 Aug 2020, 13:30

Hi Petr,

It would be nice to have a short way to edit the active route from the map and from the route menu.
This is something I regularly do to "improve" my route planning.

Currently, doing the former requires not less than 16 actions (assuming that route is active on the map) to modify the active route.
Maybe there is a shorter way but I did not find it.

- click on the compass
- click on "navigate"
- click on "stop route"
- click on the compass
- click on "navigate"
- click on "route"
- browse to find the route that was previously active
- long press on this route
- clic on Edit
- clic on Edit
- click on the "map" icon
- perform the modification moving graphically a segment to the point to add
- clic on the "V" button to validate the modified route points number on the map
- click on the "V" button to validate the route in the route menu
- browse through the route list to find again this route
- click on the route name to make it active again

Suggestion 1: add an "Edit Current Route" in the "Navigate" menu to deactivate it and jump immediately to the "map edit" mode.

Suggestion 2: when a route edition is validated, make it immediately active (stopping it is very easy).

I also remarked that when an active route is edited, four possibilities are allowed:
- stop the route and leave the edit menu
- goto the previous point
- goto the next ponit
- specify an alternate airport

Suggestion 3: add an "Edit" button to stop navigating and switch to the "route edit" mode would be nice.

Thank you in advance !

Hi Roger
Their is a shorter way that is described in the user guide

if their is no active route
1
On the main screen, short press on the "braun" indicators displaying DME, ET, ETA of the end of the route
Open the route library,

2
Swipe with your finger on the route name, from left to right to edit the route

3
make your rule modification

4
Save the modification

5
Being back in the route library, Short press on the route name to activate it
Done

if a route is active
1
On the main screen, short press on the "braun" indicators displaying DME, ET, ETA of the end of the route
Open the route if a route is active

2
Click on stop button, stop the route and send you back to the route library

3
Swipe with your finger on the route name, from left to right to edit the route

4
make your rule modification

5
Save the modification

6
Being back in the route library, Short press on the route name to activate it
Done

Does it help

Regards

Sorry, Tonio, but I tried your "short" procedure and it does not work for me:
- The "Stop route" button goes back to the map as I described in my post.
- The swipe from left to right does not produce any special effect (same as clicking on the route name).

The key missing element is the ability to jump from the active route menu to a fully functional edit route menu in one click.

Hi Roger
For the STOP, you are right,
For the Swipe, you should train again :D as it's not always easy, depending of screen of your handset

May be you could suggest Petr something simple to implement, without interface modification

While being on active route
Short press on STOP button stop the route as of today
Long press on STOP button stop the route and open it in edit mode

While being on editing mode
Short press on green arrows save the route as of today
Long press on green arrows save the route and activate it

Have nice and safe flights

Hi Tonio,

Using a "long press" to introduce new functions is always tempting as it avoids adding button; however, the existence of a long press is not so intuitive for new users.

I suggest to rather simply enhance the effect of a simple click on the first button in the "route dialog box" (Active route) menu by making it :
- stop the route (in snapshot 1) AND switch directly to the Edit mode (snapshots 2).

I like your idea of validating the route AND making it active in one click on the "V" button, but why not doing it by enhancing the effect of a simple click to:
- validate the route AND make it immediately active.

There are indeed simpler ways to stop the route.
The "Navigate" menu is very complete and intuitive as all actions have a specific button there: stop the active route, stop Nav1, stop Nav2, etc...

Of course, we can only suggest.
The last word is for Petr !

Roger

PS. Concerning the left to right swipe action, I could get it sometimes, but it does not help as it just goes to the "route dialog box".

Bons vols!
