Alarm on Altitude bug

Postby Deano » 26 Sep 2016, 22:24

Hi Petr.
Firstly, WELL DONE on this program.
As a suggestion:
It would be great to have a low tone alarm on reaching a given distance from the Altitude bug.
This would work the same way as air spaces currently work, but only with a different tone.
The ability to change the distance from the bug ,say, 100ft or 200ft etc would be really great.
In any case your program gets a 5 star rating from me without any doubt.
Keep I mind that you have a lot of people out there that appreciate your work.....Most often silently.
Cheers.

Hi all,

Seems an interesting feature to be implemented. I suggest cockpit voice callouts for "five hundred", "two hundred", and "one hundred".

The same warning may be automatically issued as "above field callouts" when a RWY is selected as active wpt (similarly to the marker beacon capabilities).
Possibly the safest way to code the later is using the terrain data for the RWY coordinates. Warnings may be issued only if terrain data is preloaded and altitude correction or baro sensor are set. In this case 1000, 500 (and maybe 200) warnings would be OK.

I have sent a mp3 with the sounds to Petr, in case he wants to use them.

cheers,

Marcos

Hi all,

resuming the discussion about "above field callouts":

I think that the 200 ft call out would be OK to be issued if GPS altitude correction is on. One thousand and five hundred calls may require such setting as well.

Above field call outs may be automatically activated when a RWY, ILS or LOC nav item is set as active (same as virtual/db Marker Beacon behavior). Reference altitude to calculate heights would be the RWY wpt altitude (or eventually the terrain database altitude @ RWY wpt).

Similar alarms for altitude bug may be switched on/off at the altitude bug setting dialog or in preferences.

cheers,

Marcos

Hi All,

Generic Voice alerts would be a good implementation into FIF, my device is wired into the intercom ( if possible make a U turn :D )

It is still on my ToDo list. Problem is my time. I have a lot of tasks. For example creating the flight plan consumpted more than one month working (7 days a week), Improving terrain 2 weeks, etc. Every AIRAC cycle playing with data...

So it will be implemented (this year) - it is simple, but I do not know when ;)
