Switching Nav1 / Nav2 and “course” setting

Switching Nav1 / Nav2 should not change preselected course. Unfortunately is working different.

Sample in the vicinity of EYKA vor KNA:
Set: Nav1 direct KNA then set course 200
Set: Nav2 direct KNA then set course 300
Switch Nav1/Nav2 and you will have course from present position of aircraft to KNA.

Most GPS’s has OBS mode. Pilot has possibility to fly by some preselected course to/from the point. If pilot has preselected some course on Nav1 or Nav2 - switching between Nav’s should not change preselected in advance courses (radials). It should be done by pilot new course preselecting or “direct to” selecting.

I found this situation inconvenient in ILS app training in EYKA with my students. On Nav1 we set ILS 08 app, on Nav2 downwind radial 287. Unfortunately after touch and go when we returning to Nav2 to fly radial 287 from KNA we found course from present position to KNA.

In general switching Nav1 / Nav2 should not change preselected course. More flexible in course setting to have “Direct to” button instead “Hide” button.

Best wishes

Thanks - I will think about it.

Now when switching - CRS is set to "Direct to".
Maybe some settings in Preferences - change/not change CRS when switching NAV1, NAV2 (and also remebere CRS of NAV on the background).

Agree.
1.Program should remember Nav course setting and keep in background.
It is same like it remembers ILS app setting on selected Nav and do not changing this setting on flip-flop Nav1/Nav2.
The same idea in aviation radios frequency changes between "main" and "standby" frequencies.

2.At present time It is convenient "direct to" course setting on first Nav selection "to the point".

3.On pilot decision now is possible change course to the point. Program has option to set course by selecting it and pushing green button "course". Another red (brown) button is not usable at present time. I am suggesting to use this button to set "direst to" course. In this case pilot will set any course or will reset "direct to" course fast any time.

4.It is question of program ideology to use or not preferences for this situation. If you decide it just convenient for few users YES. Otherwise NO.

"Another red (brown) button is not usable at present time"

I do not know which button you mean.
