Artifical Horizon Attidude Information

Postby hgrdrro » 03 Aug 2014, 10:51

FlyisFun is the best Moving Map Software I have ever work with and I have seen a lot of them.
Modern Smartphones, like my Nexus 5, habe an integrated 3-axis gyroscop.
Do you intend to extend your software by an artifical horizon or even better an syntheic vision screen ?
Kind Regards

I tried it, but my results was unreliable. I decided, flying with mobile artificial horizon is danger.

I tried a couple of attitude indicator apps and got inconsistent results as well. Some work for a while (maybe long enough to get out of the soup...).

Even with clever algorithms, accelerometers alone can not disentangle the gravitational force (which provide horizon setting) from inertial (G) forces. Soon or later they mix them a little bit and accumulate errors. Humans do that rather quickly.
So, I also think it may be dangerous to have it as a standard feature to fly with.
