HSI turning smooth

Postby LaelNeves » 16 Jun 2017, 04:21

Hello Kitercuda! Congratulations on the beautiful work. I'm in love with Fly Is Fun, just one thing that bothers me, because the HSI in magnetic compass mode turns smoothly like a real HSI of an aircraft, but in navigation mode (in flight) is not it the same thing? It works with those classics locked like those old GPS, the sensation is that it has a lot of lag during a curve, my dream is to be able to see it sliding smoothly is it possible? ;)

Fly is fun - in flight mode, rustic movement, with lags

Is there any way to solve this? I did an IFR procedure to test the app and I confess it disappointed me the way this HSI behaves during the laps, with lags or low frames ... I would like to see it turning smooth, I trust you and I know you will be able to improve .

Android GPS data rate is 1 position per second. There are to ways:

1. Use only GPS data - exact position
2. Use for example Calman filter for predicting position between 2 GPS fixes (smooth movement. but sometimes corrections), there are lags and not exact position

I decided to use point 1.

Maybe I did not understand correctly, the update I received on 08/07/17 today, was to test the modification regarding your comment, or do I have to do this in the FIF configurations?
I did a test flight today and did not notice any difference ...

Hi. I may be able to provide some points to help you.
As admin said it, it is not FiF's fault for the "lag" but rather the 1Hz data refresh from Android device onboard GPS receivers. To solve this, I made an external bluetooth GPS (GNSS) receiver that can give 5Hz (5 updates per second). I don't have a video yet but I will put up one to show you how it looks like for FiF to display 5Hz location information.

I made an FSX video using FSUIPC GPSout to demonstrate the difference between a "normal" gps receiver with 1 Hz update rate and my 5 Hz external bluetooth gps receiver.
