AGL filter for Virtual Radar to avoid displaying non-flying

Postby Johannes » 27 Nov 2016, 20:28

Would be great to have AGL filter for the virtual radar so that phones/tablets on the ground can be filtered out.
I'm often playing with the app when not in the air, and I see others doing the same... No problem with that, but when flying I'm only interested in seeing other aircrafts.

So a filter blocking targets below a "user decided AGL" would be a good solution. Possible for next update?

Hi, I must think about it .

Anyway you can easy switch-on, off broadcasting your position: Long tap the ACC value window.
If your device has GPS fix, threre are small flashing dot. If the dot is red, device is not broadcasting position, green = broadcasting position.

Yes, I know. But its not my broadcast I dont wanna see, I dont wanna see other people on the ground. Only the ones that are up in the air...
Please give it a thought, shouldn't be to hard to program the logic behind it?

This one for example is on the ground.
I don't want to see him when I am in the air

Why not changing the icon to a round balloon if the horizontal speed and vertical speed are below certain values.
(PB of h horizontal speed only, is that some guys as Petr, like to fly vertically) :D

Speed filter will not do it as we helicopter guys sometimes have 0 speed in all directions even though we're up in the blue...
I don't see any other solution than AGL filter

Your example show aircraft detection on airport

It's exactly the same with Transponder and ADSB-OUT equipment that are switched on, on the ground.
C.f. Flight Radar

Getting signal to localize an aircraft landed else where then on regular airport is useful.
Ex: you would like to find your other helicopter friend that landed some where, with our discussing by radio or phone

Being able to, on the ground testing if FIF detection is working is useful to
Not fan of the idea of disabling every where detection on the ground
It will be different when automobile drivers will use FIF to localize them

May be the filter could be
Zero speed AND located at airport place AND at same altitude than airport AND within 500 m around the airport

I think that I didn't express my idea well enough.
The idea is that any user of FiF should be able to decide what he wants to see.
If I don't want to see aircrafts below a ceartain AGL then I would in my FiF inform the lowest AGL of other aircrafts that should be seen in my FiF.
If I don't filter my FiF will show all aircrafts, independent of their AGL.

The idea is not to filter the sender of "Radar data", the idea is to filter on the reciving app.
Hope I was more clear now?

Have you done any further thinking?
Should be quite easy to implement an AGL filter on the reciving end, don't you think?
