Corrupted Nav Database

I attempted to download and update my database to 1402. on my Galaxy Note II.
It spent overnight stuck on ~4000 airports loaded. I cancelled it and then tried again.
On the next and subsequent attempts it downloaded, unzipped then fails with "Database opening error".
Attempting to open the database look or find anything, causes the "loading list box..." to show, then the screen either goes black, or fly is fun reboots itself.
Any chance of recovering any of my added waypoints etc?
I did the same on my Nexus 7 table and all went successfully.
