Route summary shows huge values + question on route editing

1) Snapshot1: an almost straight route EBTX-EBFS-EBCF-EBTX produces 4451km:22h;662 l fuel in the summary.
2) Snapshot2: after adding/removing points in the route, the result is calculated correctly.
3) The aircraft selection is lost every time I exit the "route summary" window.
Workaround: select the aircraft with a long press in another menu.
4) How can I insert an (existing) waypoint in the route from the map display?
I tried to click the point and to press the (magenta) "Route" button to add the point, but this button does not do anything.
Only the other buttons (NAV1, NAV2, PDF) are working.

Hi Roger
Its not a bug : Value you get is easy to explain and absolutely normal.
I let you think about it.
I'm sure you will find why you get it
Route summary (huge values) + question on route edi

@Tonio: no, I cannot understand why I get a distance of 4451km instead of 260km and why the distance suddenly becomes correct later. Please explain.
I reproduced this error today: I think that it is linked to the import of the route (in gpx format) .
Also what about questions 3 and 4?

Hi Roger
Your points 1 and 2
Route summary could be called in 2 different modes
Mode 1 – Edit mode – Route is NOT active
In this case route summary provide information on the route itself.
Distance shown and associate information start from the first point of the route up to its last point, including eventually additional info as wind, alternates airports …
Mode 2 – Active mode – Route IS ACTIVE
In this case route summary provide information that is slightly different
Distance and associate information shown start from aircraft position, to first active point of the route … then up to last point the route, including eventually additional info as wind, alternates airports …
If you are outside with GPS active and a fix, you will see it
What if, if you are in active mode, without GPS fix
GPS provide then N 00°00’00” W 000°00’00” position that is somewhere in the middle of Guinea gulf.
FIF take then this position as aircraft position. That's why you get a total distance with thousand of miles or km
You see, not a bug, and I had similar results with most of application I tested / used in the past
Could I suggest in your title modifying “Bug :” with “Question concerning”
Your point 3
Question : Have you select a “by default aircraft”?
Starting FIF in info page, you are invited to define a “by default aircraft”.
When an aircraft is selected, it appears in green on FIF in info page
Your point 4
To add a WPT on a route, make sure to be in Route edit mode, not in active mode
Beeing in Edit mode, from route detail
- call the map via the map button
and then
- long press on point
Does it answer your questions?
Have a fun and safe flights

Route summary (huge values) + question on route edi

Hi Tonio,
1-2. I would suggest to define a "Home base" and use it by default instead of N0000E00000; this would make more sense, I think.
3. Negative, indeed, and I probably defined one by "selecting the aircraft with a long press in another menu".
For the user, it is however strange to select an aircraft in the route summary window and lose it every time you display something else and come back without touching the route.
4. This explanation helps me a lot as I did not grab the route edition mode, except for the definition of a route by clicking from the first to the last point. What I missed was that if exiting the route details (wpt list) with the map button, you display the map while remaining in "edit mode".
Thanks a lot for your detailed explanation; it help me to progress with FIF.
A last question concerning the route edition: if I select a route to display it, it becomes active.
What is the shortest way to set this route in edit mode from that point?

Hi Roger
1-2.
FIF take the position delivered by Android when “route is active”.
That’s all.
To check route summary, when you are not flying, make sure the route isn’t activated, this will solve your problem
3. In “Aircraft” windows, make a long press on an aircraft name, and select it
Aircraft name will become green, indicatiing that the aircraft is selected by default.
If you do that, your problem should be solved to
Note: if, before flight, you have selected the Aircraft, the Pilot and Copilot (all in green) then the logbook will filled with the right values, as it will be for route summary …
Your last question concerning route edition:
“if I select a route to display it, it becomes active. What is the shortest way to set this route in edit mode from that point?”
Always start from “Routes” library (where all routes are displayed).
There you have 2 possibilities
- long press on the name of the route to edit and then Edit and again Edit
or
- swipe on route name from left to right
Note if you do a “short press” on the name, the route is activated.
If the route is active, to Edit it, you need first to stop it “Stop” button and go back to “Routes” library
From the moving map screen, to call the “Routes” library (or the “Active route” windows if a route is active) short press on the Braun DME / ET / ETA buttons
Summary to Edit a route from the moving map
1 – short press on Braun DME / ET / ETA buttons
2 – swipe on route name from left to right
Summary to Edit a route from the moving map (if a route is active)
1 – short press on Braun DME / ET / ETA buttons
2 – Stop the route
3 – short press on Braun DME / ET / ETA buttons
4 – swipe on route name from left to right
Have fun with Fly is Fun
