Use of SD card for map storage?

I have a Tesco "hudl" which has a total internal disc size of 9.1 GB.

However it is possible to insert an SD card to increase the storage.

I know I cannot run the App off the SD card, but is it possible to store the maps and navigation database on the SD card (and run them from the card)?

If not, I need a new tablet!

Thanks

This is possible to (re)define under:

Menu
Application Settings
Preferences
Data management
Data location

I should need to download the maps etc. directly to the SD card since there is so little room on the main drive. Is that also possible?

apparently sd access did not / do not work on android 6.

see http://www.funair.cz/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5861

may be it is fixed already. give it a try.

I tried.
I think all the maps are in a folder called GPS_ILS_VOR. The only way I could identify it positively was to plug the tablet into my PC.

The only way was to drag the folder across (it is distinct from the App, which is in the Apps folder).

Unfortunately the folder was only copied to the SD card.

So I nervously deleted the original from the device internal storage.

The app would not run. The maps and databases had all gone.

So I tried to drag the folder back from the SD card. It refused, saying something like the app was no longer running or connected (or something).

So now I am reloading the maps from the site. I don't know about the databases?

Alas everything went wrong and it has taken most of Christmas Day to fix it. Never mind, whatever else can one do on this day?
I did manage to drag the maps back from the SD card into the internal storage area, but also the app would not recognise them. So I downloaded them again, ending up with two identical copies in he internal storage, and very little space left. I deleted one, and it must have been the wrong one because the app no longer worked.

So I deleted the lot and started again. Merry Christmas!

Do you have access to SD card?
if you have no rooted device and you want to use SD card, data must be placed here:
sdcard/Android/data/gps.ils.vor.glasscockpit/files
