sdcard and marshmallow

Troubles with application

sdcard and marshmallow

Postby beks » 03 May 2016, 18:25

Hi
Great piece of software, I've been using it for two years, and with good maps and nexus 7 it's perfect. But unfortunately with Android 6.0 there is no possibility to put data (maps) on to the sdcard (something like with Android 4 untill sd card fix) if you want to use sdcard as a storage. Searching the forums I found out that the we should contact app developers, as they can do something about it in app itself to allow this possibility (something conected with permissions or so). So, just wondering if it is true.

I second this question.

I want to activate a trial version, but first download maps and nav data. With only a little internal space, i CAN NOT test except if I store data on external SD.

Fly is fun does apparently not support permissions to use external SD storage.

will there be a fix, and if yes: when?

If not: no problem, I can then spend my time with trying other apps. But I would like to know weather it makes sense to wait.

Did you try Menu / App settings / Preferences / Data managment / Data location and select SD card?

Same problem with me.
I have updated my xperia z3 tablet compact to Android 6.01. All charts have been gone. New installation is not possible on SD card. Thats a problem for me, because I have only 16GB internal memory.

Hi again,

Update

So I managed to get SDcard accessible for FIF again. This is what I did (It worked for me on xperia Z2 Android 6.01 with root and custom
recovery, it doesn't mean that will work on any other device):

I downloaded xposed installer from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=3034811 (read everything carefully)
And than xinternalsd module for xposed http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/ ... k-t2789267

This process requires a bit advanced knowlege about Android (to get your phone rooted and install custom recovery) and probablly you'll void your warranty
because of rooting, but there you have it.

I have the same problem: after update to Android 6 there's no access to SD-card possible anymore.
Under Menu / App settings / Preferences / Data managment / Data location - choosing "SD-card" is not permitted (grey)
If I choose "User defined path" I can access my SD-card with the FiF-folder still on it, but there appears a message saying "Impossible to use selected path. You have not Adroid write permission."

I don't want to install all maps and other data on the internal memory. My SD-card is NOT configured as internal memory extension, which might be possible under Marshmallow.
Please Petr can you take your magic wand...? :-)

Kind greetings, Firefly
