FLY is FUN

Hi everyone!

Is "FLY is FUN" compatible Apps for any ADS-B Receiver?
Which ADS-B Receiver (monitor of traffic on board) Can I use with the "FLY is FUN" software? Is it possible?

Support for ADS-B is not implemented yet.
It will be implemented, when I will find good device for it. If anybody has any suggestion (ADS-B receiver), please write it to this thread.

That is a nice suggestion. Full ADS-B capabilities will be possibly standard for all GA in the near future. However, TIS-B information depends on ground broadcast. So, knowing the areas of coverage is important - ground receiver and transmitter infrastructure is still non existent in many countries. Direct ADS-B reception of a ground or air interrogated ADS-B out aircraft has a limited range. Does anybody have a figure on that for portable receivers (eg. dual, stratus2, etc)?

Just got my ADS-B receiver working on my Samsung x-cover phone. I used the NooElec Nano DVB-T usb receiver and an app called Avare ADSB. It shows a map of local traffic that is in the range of the receiver.
The USB receiver cost US$ 24,- incl shipping to NL at NooElece website. The app is free but it will only receive a limited number of data, you can restart it or order the 'Pro' version for Eur 1,99, not too bad for a working ADS-B receiver.

I hope it will be possible to integrate it into FiF.

Do you have a figure for the receiver range (for adsb-out aircraft) using an external antenna?

Hi Marcos,
The unit comes with an external antenna (MXC) and when I use it in my home it will receive at least 3 to 4 planes (all at about FL023 - 033) but when I go outside it receives a lot more planes.
I am planning to hook it up to my DME antenna on my C172. They took out the DME long before I bought the plane but they left the antenna though. Once I am ready I will hook it up and do a test flight to see what happens.
