Purchase outside Google Play Store: any way?

I am not willing to purchase (pay) anything via Google Play Store because the unsafe of a mobile phone can be (or I imagine of).
So, is there any way to puchase via PayPal (preferently) directly to the developer and install later the unlocker on the phone?
